Forget the past …

“Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead “…
This was in my devotional this morning. And while I truly struggle with not holding on to things that happened in the past , I do find some solace in the fact that time went by and that bad thing didn’t take me down.
I seriously can’t even count the number of times I’ve recently started a sentence with ,” You know , as you get older …” Lol. But it’s so true. I’ve let my guard down as I’ve gotten older. But I’ve reinforced some barriers with toxic people as I’ve gotten older. I’ve gotten less cynical about piddly things but strengthened by stance on more important things as I’ve gotten older. I’ve met way more people I have things in common with but have had to let some old worn out friendships go as I’ve gotten older.
Isn’t it funny that when you heard about “balance “ as a kid, it didn’t mean much. But it really makes sense as we age.
Soooo I now see that it really is inportant to forget what’s behind me and strive for what’s ahead of me. Life is short. And getting shorter. Fill your days with friends who care , people who lift you up. And move forward.
